Entry Requirements

Admission to Graduate Certificate courses at the University of Tasmania normally requires the prior completion of an AQF7 (or equivalent) undergraduate degree. Specific requirements for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Economic Geology are as follows:

(i) a Bachelor of Science/Applied Science majoring in geoscience, or

(ii) a minimum of two years' employment as a geoscientist in the minerals industry or government.

To demonstrate eligibility for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Economic Geology, applicants must provide a copy of their undergraduate academic transcript/s. Where seeking entry partly or solely based on an applicant's previous professional experience, a curriculum vitae and the names and contact details for two professional referees should be provided.

Graduate Certificate

This course is offered part-time only, over one year, or two semesters. The maximum time for completion is three years. With the exception of Child and Family Health Nursing all specialisations are offered completely online.
Entry Requirements

Applicants must have practiced as a Registered Nurse for at least six (6) months full time equivalence since graduation from a university program, prior to start of the Course.

Applicants must provide evidence of Ahpra registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse with no restrictions or conditions.

Midwives must have a nursing qualification to be eligible to apply.

This course includes compulsory Professional Experience Placements. You must meet the College of Health and Medicine's Safety in Practice Requirements before census date of the first semester of your Course. The safety in practice requirements are completed separately to the course admission application.

The Child and Family Health specialisation is placement based and is only available for nurses in certain geographical areas, specifically Tasmania and some LHD's in NSW.

To be eligible for an offer applicants must have:

This course is only available to international students on an approved pathway to the Master of Social Work (Qualifying). Domestic students should apply for direct entry into R7O Master of Social Work (Qualifying).

Bachelor's degree in a related field:
A bachelor's degree other than in Social Work from the University of Tasmania or approved tertiary institution with:

  • a major or equivalent in a related field such as social sciences, behavioural sciences, psychology, nursing or education.
  • a minimum of 4 units (50 credit points) or equivalent in studies of society and studies of behavioural or psychological sciences.

These 4 units (50 credit points) must have been completed within 9 years of admission to the Graduate Certificate of Social Care (International Pathway).

Students with a Bachelor's degree in a non-related field:
Students with a Bachelor's degree in a non-related field may:

  • complete up to 4 units (50 credit points) from the Bachelor of Social Work with Honours, comprising 2 units (25 credit points) of Core units at Introductory (100) level and 2 units (25 credit points) of Core units at Intermediate (200) level.

English Language Requirements
IELTS (Academic) 6.5.

Students who successfully pass all 50 credit points in the Graduate Certificate of Social Care (International Pathway) and obtain a score of 7.0 or higher in IELTS, will have the option to articulate into the Master of Social Work (Qualifying), receiving 50 credit points of advanced standing.

Safety in Practice Compliance
Students who articulate to the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) need to complete a Safety in Practice Agreement to meet pre-practicum requirements. Bachelor (Honours)

The Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science with Honours (Specialisation) is a four-year program with embedded Honours. Note: this degree is part of a 2+2 agreement for international students. Domestic students should look at the Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Studies (P3L).
Entry Requirements

All international students will need to meet the minimum English Language Requirements, University General Entry Requirements and any course specific requirements such as pre-requisite subjects, if applicable.

This degree requires an IELTS (Academic) of 6.0, with no individual band less than 5.5, or a PTE Academic score of 50, with no score lower than 42 or equivalent.
